  • Protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and water are the six major classes of nutrients your body needs. Make sure your diet provides you with these for a healthy lifestyle.
  • Do a variety of physical activities and choose up to three that you enjoy. Variety helps decrease boredom and reduce injuries.
  • Fat is essential in helping protect your organs. Choose modest amounts of good fats found in nuts, oils, seeds, avocadoes and plant sources.
  • Organize your day so that you exercise early in the day or schedule it firmly into your routine. Making a written appointment to yourself will help you stick with it.
  • Walking one mile burns about 100 calories – and 2,000 steps equal one mile. Use a pedometer to count your steps, and try increasing your count each day to burn extra calories.
